WOOLSTON Rovers are “full of confidence” as they prepare to welcome Oldham St Annes to Monks Sports Club tonight, kick off 7.15pm.

Rovers sit sixth in National Conference League Division Three, with the visitors one place and two points below them.

Fieldhouse admits the game will be a tough prospect but says his side are “in a good place” following Saturday’s win at Clock Face Miners.

“We are at a crucial point in the season now where we cannot afford to slip up in any of our games,” he said.

“We got ourselves back on track last week with the win at Clock Face. We now have to back that up against an Oldham St Annes side who have hit some really good form over the past few weeks.

“They defeated us at their place and also had a fine win at Eastmoor last weekend, so they will be coming here with plenty of confidence.

“We are also full of confidence after last week so it promises to be an excellent game.

“We should hopefully have a few players back who have been missing of late to add to the competition for places, so we are in a good place at the minute.”

Woolston Rovers A have a mouth-watering clash with fellow high-flyers Westhoughton Lions in North West Men’s League Division Four at Monks Sports Club on Saturday, kick off 2.30pm.

“Westhoughton defeated us earlier in the season after what was probably our poorest display so far so we will be keen to put things right this weekend,” joint-coach Andy Penny said.

“Our form has been good on the whole and Steve Moore and myself have been delighted with the response we have been getting from the lads.

“If we can play to our full potential on Saturday, we will give ourselves a great chance of getting the right result.”
