WOOLSTON Rovers are ready for “a real arm wrestle” when they travel to Clock Face Miners on Saturday, head coach John Fieldhouse says.

Rovers make the short trip eager to bounce back having been beaten by play-off rivals Eastmoor Dragons in their last outing.

That result leaves them sixth in National Conference League Division Three and Fieldhouse says the team are keen to put last week’s disappointment behind them.

“We cannot afford to slip up anymore if we are to keep our challenge up for a play-off place,” he said.

“We are starting to run out of games and are fully aware that we must win this game at Clock Face.

“They came very close to winning at our place in May so we will be going there ready for a real arm wrestle.

“They have been very unfortunate with a couple of narrow defeats but I am sure they will be ready for us on Saturday.

“Last week’s disappointment needs to be put to the back of our mind so we can get back to playing the way we know we are capable of.”

Woolston Rovers A are also on the road as they visit Manchester Rangers A in North West Men’s League Division Four.

“We had a number of players missing last week that will be available this week so we will be picking from a strong squad,” joint-coach Andy Penny said.

“We had a good win over Rangers a few weeks back at home but we are under no illusions that this will be a much tougher encounter.”

Both games kick off at 2.30pm.
