WOOLSTON Rovers can afford “no more slip-ups” if they are to maintain their hopes of winning promotion from National Conference League Division Three, head coach John Fieldhouse says.

Rovers welcome Dewsbury Moor Maroons to Monks Sports Club on Saturday, kick off 2.30pm, aiming to bounce back from last week’s defeat to leaders West Bowling.

Fieldhouse says revenge is also a motivation for his side after a 34-6 defeat to Saturday’s opposition in the reverse fixture on April 8.

“We will be expecting another difficult game this week against Dewsbury Moor,” he said.

“They are a strong side who will be coming with confidence to face us having defeated us earlier in the season at their ground.

“It is the one really bad loss that we have suffered so far and we will be keen to put that right this week.

“We cannot afford any more slip ups if we want to keep up our challenge for promotion so it is vital that we get the two league points.

“We have used 44 different players in our 14 games so far which makes things a little disjointed, but we will have a quality seventeen out so there will be no excuses if we don’t get the win.”

Meanwhile, Woolston Rovers A make the short trip to Wigan to take on Orrell St James A in North West Men’s League Division Four on Saturday.

Joint-coach Andy Penny says he is keen for his side to continue their excellent recent form.

“We have built up plenty of momentum with the performances that we have been putting in and that has got us into a great position in the league table,” he said.

“We cannot afford to rest on our laurels and we need to continue to perform at a high level and not take anything for granted.

“We will need to complete our sets from the off and not allow Orrell to get a foothold in the game.

“If we can get a good start, it will allow us to play on the front foot. When we do that, we are really dangerous.”
