Latchford Albion 32 Thatto Heath A 26

LATCHFORD Albion tore up the form book to stun previously-undefeated Thatto Heath at Victoria Park on Saturday.

The visitors, who sit atop the North West Men’s League Premier Division, opened up an early 10-point lead before Chris Brown marked his home debut with a try for Albion.

Fraser Jones-Clarke edged Latchford ahead before an Adam Wood dummy allowed him to score between the posts just before the break.

Turning round with an 18-10 advantage, Latchford conceded a converted try just after the interval, but an audacious pass from Andy Unsworth allowed Owen Nugent to cross in the corner.

Thatto narrowed the gap to two points again, but tries from Damian Lyon and Joe Long sealed the victory for Albion despite a late consolation from the visitors.

"Today was a massive achievement from everyone involved at the club and I am a very happy man," Albion coach Lee Smith said.

"It was a great performance, quite possibly one of our finest yet.

"We played with confidence,a confidence built on applying our game plan."
