CROSFIELDS head coach Mark Brennan has a clear aim in Saturday's clash at Bradford Dudley Hill.

"We will be aiming to put in an 80 minute performance this week," he said.

That was not the case against East Leeds last time out, though Soap were 40-20 victors to maintain their perfect start to the National Conference League Division Two season.

"We started slow in the game," added Brennan.

"The first 10 minutes were not good enough by our standards.

"We got back into the game by doing some basic stuff well.

"The 15 minutes after half time we were unplayable, scoring four tries in that period, killing the game.

"We did switch off towards the end and conceded two late scores. But it was good to get the win."

Both Crosfields open-age teams enjoyed a triumphant weekend, with the home-ground double-header producing 16 tries.

With 45 players available across the two teams last Saturday, both coaches have had an embarrassment of riches available to them - something they welcome, but along with this comes additional challenges.

Brennan said: "It is a long season and we will be calling on all of our squad over the coming months.

"It's great to have a big squad and players will get their chances in both teams. The first team is not a closed shop."

The Alliance team hope to back-up last week's 52-8 home win against Fitton Hill with another home success.

With a young side at his disposal, coach Ian Boden is under no illusions about the task at hand against Wigan Bulldogs at Hood Lane, kick off 2.30pm.

"We are hoping to kick on or last week's excellent performance will count for nothing," he said.

"This will be a much sterner test but in our last two games our young pack have dominated their opposite numbers, so looking for that to continue.

"Louis Walsh has also looked organised and I will be looking to him to marshall the backs again as he has been doing.

"We know it's going to be a tough task but the lads are raring to go."
