TWO Woolston Rovers sides at the same age group have reached the North West Counties Finals Day at Leigh Miners Rangers Academy on Saturday, October 15.

The under 14s Greens defeated Latchford Giants 18-16 thanks to some resolute defence, handing them a place in the final against hosts Leigh Miners Rangers, kick off 1.30pm.

Meanwhile, the under 14s Golds ran out 42-16 victors at Ashton Bears. Their 11th successive win earns them a decider against Orrell St James at Leigh, kick off 12.15pm.

CHARLIE Groarke scored a try and claimed the player-of-the-match award as Sharks won in Wigan. Other notable performances came from Jacob Delaney and Leon Hayes, who also kicked two goals, with Nathan Groarke and Kingsley Currie adding Rylands’ other tries.

TWO tries and a conversion crowned an impressive performance from player-of-the-match Charlie Yeomans as Sharks claimed a home win. Thomas Ashurst also crossed for a brace, including one from his own in-goal area, and kicked a goal, with other tries coming from Logan Trownson, Ciaran Card and Jamie Shallcross. Trownson, Josh Brownlee and Max Myers-Davies added the Sharks' other conversions. Charlie Robinson saw his big defensive effort rewarded with the top tackler award, with Dominic Jevons taking the coach's award.

CULCHETH faced a well drilled and technical Blackbrook side. Despite some massive improvements from the Culcheth players, Blackbrook ran out winners in a great game that was played in good spirits. Harrison Smith was player of the match, most improved was Jack Gorman, tackle hero was Charlie Bailey and unsung hero was Joseph Stephens.

CAIDEN Driscoll crossed for four tries to claim the player-of-the-match award in a strong team performance. Leon Taylor added a brace, with the Sharks other scores coming from Taylor Firth, Billy Mackie and most improved player Josh Davies.
