Woolston Rovers 32 Eastmoor Dragons 12

ROVERS went one further than last year and reached the National Conference League Division Three play-off final with a dazzling display against Eastmoor Dragons.

The crowd at Monk Sports Club were thrilled by a superb performance, which included a hat-trick for in-form Australian centre Justin Becker.

John Fieldhouse’s side had won both regular season meetings with the Dragons but it took them until midway through the first half to break through.

Will Chadwick and Ryan Brown combined effectively to put Becker over in the right corner for his first of the afternoon.

Becker was clearly in the mood and he was on the scoresheet again four minutes later when he raced in next to the posts from fifty metres.

Hooker Brown was proving to be an influential presence and it was his delightful pass that sent Sean Conway powering through a gap to give Rovers a 16-0 lead at the break.

Despite having Dalton Holford sin-binned, the visitors got back into the game through Jason Roberts’ try but Dani Garcia O’Brien crossed for Rovers shortly after.

Almost immediately, quick hands from the hosts saw the ball reach Becker, who squeezed over in the right corner to complete his treble.

Malcolm Kellett crossed for a consolation try for Eastmoor but Rovers had the last word when Christian Taylor powered through three tackles to cross left of the posts and put the seal on a superb Rovers showing.
