WOOLSTON will have to improve all over the field if they are to defeat Dewsbury Moor Maroons this weekend, according to head coach John Fieldhouse.

His side went down 62-16 against neighbours Rylands Sharks in the Kingstone Press National Conference League’s Division Three last Thursday.

“We must get back to playing the way I know we’re capable of,” he said.

“We struggled at Rylands to find our usual rhythm, and it didn’t help to be without such a large number of first-choice players due to injury, holidays or work commitments.

“That hindered our ability to be competitive, although we were still in the game after an hour before they than ran away with it.

“I cannot fault the players’ effort, but we were just not at the level required against a very strong opponent that thoroughly deserved their victory.”

A return meeting with fifth-placed Dewsbury, opponents they defeated 38-16 back in April, gives Rovers a chance – still second, five points adrift of pace-setting Crosfields – to recover.

Fieldhouse said: “Dewsbury are always a tough side to play against, especially at home, and we must improve our all-round game to get the win.

“I have an enormous amount of belief in the squad, and this is an ideal game for us to bounce back in.

“If we can record a victory, then it will hopefully give us the confidence to go on a good run until the end of the season.”
