WOOLSTON will be looking to kick-start their season when they entertain Oldham St Annes on Saturday, from 2.30pm.

Having started their National League Division Three campaign with a narrow defeat to Drighlington, Rovers return to Monk Sports Club for a first home game looking to bounce back against opponents unbeaten in their first two games.

Head coach John Fieldhouse is hoping to have a few more players available for Saturday’s game, having fielded a depleted side on the opening day.

“We were a little understrength at Drighlington but should have still got something from the game so we know that the talent is there in the squad, we just need to prove it on the field,” he said.

“We should have a few bodies back for the game which will make us stronger, and hopefully we will get the right outcome.”

The game comes after an enforced two-week break for Rovers due to the Easter holidays, but Fieldhouse says a pause has left his side are raring to go.

“It wasn’t ideal playing our first game and then having a week off due to Easter but there is nothing we can do about that,” he said.

“We know St Annes have had a good start having played an extra game, but we have a great belief in our side that we can get a positive result on Saturday.”

Rovers are always looking for new recruits to their open age teams, so anyone interested in playing should contact John Fieldhouse on 07834 412724.
