Crosfields A 36 Wigan Bulldogs 30

CROSFIELDS Alliance finished off the season in fine style, beating Wigan Bulldogs 36-30.

Crosfields took an early lead through Sam Woodall’s first try, converted by Ryan Connolly, but the visitors hit back with three tries before the break to lead 6-14 at half time.

Straight after the restart, Wigan Bulldogs scored again and at 6-20, the game looked to be over.

But Crosfields stuck to their task and Bailey Hartley found a gap and raced over for a try, which Connolly converted.

Connolly was on hand again, when he intercepted deep in opposition territory, then chipped to the corner for Nathan Taylor to catch and score and Crosfields were back in the game at 16-20.

Minutes later Taylor combined with Woodall, for a try which levelled the game at 20-all.

Wigan Bulldogs composed themselves and scored two quick tries, to lead by 10 points at 20-30.

Jordan Chilcott’s brilliant ball steal saw him leave the opposition flat footed as he raced 30 metres for a try.

Connolly converted, to reduce the deficit to just four points.

Man-of-the-match Woodall showed his skill with only a couple of minutes to go, as he crashed over in the corner to level the scores.

Connolly showed nerves of steel to convert from the touchline and put his side in front.

Jack Williams rubbed salt into the wounds with the final try of the game and a 36-30 victory.

Touch rugby will continue on Thursday nights from 7pm and Friday, October 23, Crosfields will hold their presentation night from 7.30pm.
