A PLAY-offs final spot is up for grabs when Woolston Rovers visit Stanningley on Saturday to battle it out in the National Conference League Division Three last four.

Rovers won their last five games to claim fifth spot, finishing below fourth-placed Stanningley on points difference.

The winners will face either Drighlington or Dewsbury Moor Maroons in the final the following week.

Head coach John Fieldhouse, who is looking forward to taking his charges back to Leeds, said: “We have been building towards this game over the past couple of months once we realised that automatic promotion was unlikely.

“This is a great opportunity for our lads to get some reward for all their efforts so far.

“We started the season slowly, which was to be expected due to the number of new players and with it being my first season back at the club, but we have shown over the past six or seven weeks what we are capable of.

“We have had some great victories, firstly against Stanningley at home and then inflicting the only defeat of the season on Hunslet Club Parkside, so we know that we have the players who thrive on the big occasion.

“We are fully aware of the threat that Stanningley pose and we know that we will have to be at our best for the entire game if we are to get the win and reach the play-off final.

“I will have a very strong squad available so there will be no excuses.”

The coach leaves Monks Sports Club, Hillock Lane, Woolston at 11.30am.
