WOOLSTON Rovers will look to extend their winning run at home to Drighlington in the Kingstone Press National Conference League Division Three on Saturday, 2.30pm.

A 44-12 win at Dewsbury Moor Maroons made it three on the bounce, thanks to a Christian Taylor hat-trick, two from Billy Maunder and further tries from Anthony Clayton, Sean Conway and Ryan Brown.

Head coach John Fieldhouse said after the game at Dewsbury Moor Maroons on Saturday: “It was a great result for the team today.

“We travelled once again with fifteen players due to several players being on holiday and we had a very difficult start to the game as Dewsbury took a 10-0 lead inside the first seven minutes but we worked hard to get into the game and only trailed 12-10 at the break.

We made some slight adjustments at half time and we completely dominated the second half, running in six further tries and not conceding a single point.

"Our defence was superb and our completion rate was at 90% in the second 40 minutes which was very pleasing.”

Looking ahead to this coming Saturday’s game Fieldhouse added: “He added: "We are really looking forward to what promises to be a really hard fought game between two in-form teams.

“We had a narrow 18-16 win at their place early on in the season and I am certain that this week will be as equally close.

“Drighlington will know that if they can get a win it will put them above us but we can create some daylight between us and them by getting the victory and will keep us right behind Stanningley who are in third place.

“We have a few more players unavailable this week due to holidays but that is summer season amateur rugby league and you have to deal with it.

“I will get a team together and I know that every player that pulls a green and gold shirt on will be giving it his best.”

Rovers A travel to Orrell St James on Saturday in the NWML Division Two; kick off 2.30pm looking to bounce back from last Saturday’s home defeat to Bury Broncos.

They were beaten 46-26, despite tries for Danny Forster, James Evans, two from Shane Duffy and a late Conor Gerrard score.

Coach Mark Robinson said after Saturday’s game: “We can have no complaints about the defeat as we just didn’t perform to the level that we know we are capable of.

“We showed some glimpses of the form we have displayed recently but not enough.

“We will be working hard in training this week and hopefully we can put in an improved performance at Orrell.

“They are in good form but we know that we have plenty of quality in our side.”
