Latchford u12s 16 Cadishead u12s 4

LATCHFORD progressed in the cup at the expense of Cadishead thanks to tries from Luke Thomas, Charlie Groarke and Josh Kirby.

Sam Ball kicked two conversions.

Latchford dominated possession and was finally rewarded in the eigth minute from some very good drives and ball work, topped off with a dummy half scoot from Groarke.

From the following set of six Latchford pilled on the pressure with a top short kick off from Luke Thomas forcing a close-to-the-touch-line catch from the Rhinos.

Josh Beddall and Jamie Taylor-Dodd combined well to get the Cadishead player into touch.

From the resulting scrum Latchford made good yards from the base of the scrum and Kirby used his strength and speed to go around and through the Rhinos left edge. Ball successfully converted.

Latchford stated the second half slow and always looked threatened when defending there own try line.

With three consecutive unforced penalties the Rhinos were camped on the LAU line and that was finally broken down by very slow reactions and very poor goal line defence.

The game was then there for the taking with LAU once again creating unforced errors and making silly decisions to gift the Rhinos possession.

Both defences held strong until the 35-minute mark when Latchford were given a penalty for a high shot and Thomas burst on to a ball from 10 metres out to score. Ball added the extras.
