MARK Forster will be pulling on the Woolston Rovers shirt again this season – 33 years after leaving to turn professional with Warrington Wolves.

Now aged 50, good form could see Foz selected by his former Wolves teammate John Fieldhouse in Rovers’ National Conference League side after the head coach told him age is no barrier.

The former Great Britain and Ireland international winger, the fourth highest try scorer in Wolves history, has spent 13 years playing as an amateur with Rylands Sharks and Bank Quay Bulls after 21 seasons in the professional game.

Forster, initially inspired to continue as an amateur to play alongside sons Chris, aged 27, and Daniel, aged 25, says he still gets ‘a buzz’ from playing.

He added: “I’m fairly injury free but I think injuries would still be there if I didn’t play. I’m a lot more sore and stiff if I don’t train.”
