WOOLSTON Rovers A entertain Bury Broncos in their opening North West Men's League Division Two game of the season on Saturday.

They will be looking to build on last Saturday’s 32-22 victory over Eccleston Lions in the North West Men's League Trophy.

Coach Andy Addison said: “It was good to get the win last week and that gives us something to build on.

"Bury had an excellent season last year and deserved to be promoted, but we will be looking to improve on last week."

Rovers responded quickly to an early Lions’ score with prop forward Mark Robinson powering over from close range. Stand off Jason Rutter added the extras.

Liam Sullivan scored from wide out before substitute Dave Kelly found centre Paul Berry to hit the corner.

Lions narrowed the deficit, but a break by Kelly ended with Danny Brown bursting through a gap to go 40 metres between the posts.

While the Lions scored twice late on, Rovers put the game beyond doubt thanks to touchdowns from Roberts and Peter Leonard.

Rovers A: Shane Duffy; Liam Sullivan, Mark Forster, Paul Berry, Danny Brown; Jason Rutter, Glyn Roberts; Phil Stevens, Peter Leonard, Mark Robinson, James Dudley, Dan Fearnley, Mike Ward. Subs: Danny Forster, Ian Ward, Dave Kelly, Mike Rosson.
