Culcheth u18 22 Leyland 28

CULCETH’S new look under 18s played their part in an end to end competitive game.

Culcheth took the lead with a full length interception try from George Bradburn.

The hostshad plenty of the ball but could not convert it into points and paid the price and ended up 12-6 down before half time.

A brilliant individual try from scrum half and man-of-the-match Jack Gloversaw him beat several defenders to race between the sticks to level the score.

A controlled start to the second half with good defence and ball control saw Culcheth take the lead with a try closet to the line from the ever-busy Sam Purslow.

Culcheth then switched off for the next 20 minutes with sloppy play and scratchy defence allowed Leyland to score three tries.

Culcheth kept themselves in the game with good scrambling defence and took the game to Leyland and went close several times.

Then great work down the right channel saw Ross Ashton finish off in the corner.

With only a couple of minutes left, Culcheth fell off the tackle between the sticks allowing Leyland in for the easiest try of the game, with conversions from Liam Pleavin the score line was very encouraging for all.
