WARRINGTON pair Abraham de Root and Stephen Johansen were in action in the BRSCC Fun Day Championship Races at Oulton Park.

In their sixth year of driving for Scarab Racing with their Track Cars 4 Hire sponsored VW ‘Beetle shaped’ single seater, the pair took to the track in the Funcup Championship four hour Endurance race series.

Having climbed to third from 10th on the grid, a crash damaged the bonnet and their chances of taking a podium place.

This did not deter them however, as they repaired the damage and steadily climbed back up from last place to finish a creditable eighth, meaning they finished the overall Championships in second place.

Fellow Warringtonian Andrew Lennie was racing his Prospray Accident Repair Specialist sponsored 1600cc Ford Escort in the CFT Services Ford XR Challenge races with mixed success.

A fine ride saw him finish his first race in an excellent fourth, second in his class, but a mistake when trying to overtake in the afternoon’s second race saw him end up off the track and out of the rankings.
