Tracy stops shots to keep Alderley Edge at bay

INSPIRED goalkeeping from Tracy Jackson helped Warrington hang on to a share of the spoils against Alderley Edge seconds in the Cheshire Women’s Hockey League Division Two.

Steph Lace and Louise Sullivan linked well in midfield, but things got tougher for Warrington when sweeper Victoria Pollard was forced off with a injury.

Warrington’s men started the North West League season with a win on Saturday.

Tim Rothwell tucked in a rebound to open the scoring in a Division Six North encounter at Didsbury Northern fifths, although the hosts restored parity soon afterwards.

Ben Vickers converted another short corner to make it 2-1, goalkeeper Roger Parr protecting the lead with a string of saves late on.

Lymm’s thirds fought back from two-goals down at Bowdon sevenths in Division Eight North, Christian Freeman and debutant Carwyn Nash hitting the net.

However the hosts pinched the points with a late winner.
