Rawlins double helps Warrington

WARRINGTON’S Hockey Ladies travelled to Chester’s third team for the second game of the Cheshire Women’s Division Two season and returned with a 3-0 win.

The visitors were the better side throughout, creating decent spells of pressure in the first half and taking the lead when a short corner strike from Steph Rawlins was rebounded into the net following a fine save.

The impressive link-up play between player-of-the-match Steph Lace and Sarah Gregson allowed Jenny Day to double Warrington’s lead after the break.

Steph Rawlins completed the victory by scoring their third of the afternoon, with solid defence throughout from Rawlins, Vicky Pollard and Kirsty Anderson keeping the hosts goaless.

The seconds did not enjoy such a successful afternoon, being beaten 4-0 by visitors Triton Ladies fourths.
