Luke Gamble, red vest, at the start of Warrington under 13s boys’ silver relay success at Marbury Park
WARRINGTON Athletics Club’s under 15s boys and girls scooped double gold in combined regional and county events on Saturday.
Sarah McGrail, Harriet Knowles-Jones and Lizzie Smith were first home in the North West Road Relay Championships, which incorporated the Cheshire Championships.
And that was matched by Daniel Evans, Leighton Sharman and Robert Dykes at Marbury Country Park as Warrington AC shone and claimed medals in every race entered.
A further Cheshire title was chalked up by the under 13s girls’ team of Melissa Boyer, Lauren Goddard and Lauren Ferris.
Achieving the under 15s girls’ glory, McGrail ran 9mins 52secs to hand over in fifth place to Knowles-Jones, who moved to the front in 9mins 5secs. Smith brought the team home in 10mins 8secs for a total time of 29mins 5secs.
In the boys’ under 15s race, Evans ran the fastest time of the day with 8mins 33secs to hand over to Sharman who increased the lead by one second with 9mins 18secs. Dykes completed the team victory with the fourth fastest time of 8mins 52secs to total 26mins 43secs.
Melissa Boyer handed over to Lauren Goddard in second place in 9mins 52secs on the way to the Cheshire title at under 13s girls’ level.
Goddard held on to second place in 10mins 18secs and Lauren Ferris brought the team home in third place in 11mins 5secs for a total time of 31mins 15secs that also sealed North West bronze.
Silver success came in the Cheshire championship and bronze in the North West for the under 13s boys’ team of Luke Gamble (9mins 36secs), Daniel Fox (9mins 49secs) and Sam Rostron (10mins 7secs) with a total of 29mins 32secs.
The Cheshire men’s senior silver was won by Luke Johnston (16mins 59secs), Dominic Mahon (17mins 15secs), Sam Dykes (18mins 41secs) and Adrian Timmins (18mins 55secs) with a total time of 71mins 50secs that placed them 10th overall in the North West championship.
Kate Titlow (21mins 8secs), Katie Ashcroft (23mins 29secs) and Rachel Jefferson (23mins 7secs) collected the Cheshire senior women’s bronze medals.
Warrington’s under 17s men brought home Cheshire bronze thanks to Cameron Field (17mins 59secs), Liam Burthem (22mins 13secs) and Chris Fance (19mins 33secs) clocking up 69mins 45secs.
