WARRINGTON'S Hazel Musgrove will be competing with the Great Britain women's water polo team in this summer's Olympic Games.
The 23-year-old Appleton player's selection has been confirmed today at Manchester Acquatics Centre.
Musgrove, a member of Warrington Water Polo Club, plays for City of Liverpool and has been in the senior GB squad since 2009.
The centre back or right wing, who started the sport when she was 12 years old, will be making history as a member of the first GB women's team to compete in an Olympic Games.
Highlights of her international career so far include a gold medal in the European B Nationas Trophy, a bronze medal in the Four Nation International Invitational, appearances in European Championships at junior, youth and under 20s level as well as a seventh-place finish in the World University Games in China.
With City of Liverpool, Musgrove finished in bronze medal position at the British Championships in 2010 and spent the 2010/11 campaign gaining experience with the GB team competing in the Hungarian National League
In January this year the women's team progressed to the European Championships for the first time in 15 years, achieving their best result since 1987 when they played in the B final.
