WARRINGTON Rowing Club kicked off the new sprint regatta season with an impressive medal haul.

The C novice double sculls of Matt Holmes and Andrzej Tadeusiak fought back from a bad start over a 500m course in the Merseyside Regatta to make it through their heat and into the final, where they beat Liverpool Victoria to claim victory.

The masters coxed four of Alasdair Elder, Andrzej Tadeusiak, Andrew Devereau, Ian Smith and cox Megan Dunbavand beat both Trentham and Liverpool to claim victory by 4¼ lengths in the West Float Docks.

A 3½ length winning margin was achieved by the masters C quad sculls of Alasdair Elder, Ian Smith, David Jordan and Andrew Devereau.

The novice quad sculls team of Matt Holmes, Greg Millar, Dave Rimmer and Dave Jordan blitzed the hosts to record a 12-length win, with the men’s team’s success completed by the comfortable victory of double sculls George McCormick and Tom Glover at intermediate two level.

Success was also achieved by the junior section, Henry Balcerak taking gold in the J18 single sculler and Louise Bowyer and Daisy Dell winning the J18 women’s double sculls before going on to partner Claudia Wright and Deanna Wooler when winning the J17 quad.

The J16 quad sculls team of George McCormick, Tom Glover, Ed Davies and Al Saxby narrowly beat arch-rivals Queens Park High to add another gold to the club’s collection, while the J16 double sculls, Holly McMullen and Hannah Whiteley, also eased to victory.

Alice Bowyer beat teammate Pippa Curran by 2½ lengths in an all Warrington final of the J15 single sculler, with the J15 coxed quad sculls team of Megan Dunbavand, Pippa Curran, Elle McLoughlin, Abby Jones and cox Holly Robinson romping to victory in a category a year above their actual age.

There were also wins for the J14 coxed quad sculls Ayesha Wooler, Hannah Bushell, Lucy Stanhope, Beth Houghton and cox Jess Swindells, and J14 double sculls George Davidson and Kieran McCormick, who won that event before partnering James Walsh, Ayesha Wooler and cox Pippa Curran in their win in the J14 coxed quad sculls.
