WARRINGTON’S Olympic Games selections have moved on to three this week.

Rowers Richard Egington and Olivia Whitlam were confirmed as Team GB representatives yesterday, Wednesday, joining Longbarn slalom canoeist Johny Akinyemi in London 2012.

Whitlam, of Daresbury, still has a battle on her hands to make the women’s eight boat when racing starts at the Eton Dorney venue on July 29.

The 26-year-old, who reached the pairs final with Louisa Reeve in Beijing four years ago, is one of 10 oarswomen named. Two of the 10 will go into the event as reserves.

Egington’s expected place in the men’s eight has been rubber stamped.

The 33-year-old, who won silver with the eight on his Olympic debut four years ago, was switched back to the bigger boat earlier this season after spending three years in the men’s four.

Egington, a former pupil of Lymm High School who started his career at Warrington Rowing Club, has won two silver medals in World Cup regattas this year.
