Hughes qualifies for regional final after Stableford victory

WARRINGTON’S David Hughes has qualified for the regional final of a golf tournament this summer.

The amateur player narrowly won the Inchape North West Audi Invitational staged at the Mere Golf Club in Knutsford with a score of 38-points in the Stableford rules matches.

More than 65 amateur golfers contested the 18-hole competition in Knutsford, Cheshire, with the top eight pairing up and returning for the regional final on July 24.

Five regional finals are being held next month with the top 18 pairs going forward to the Audi Quattro Cup UK Final at Bowood Golf and Country Club, near Calne, Wiltshire, in September.

Ultimately, two pairs will represent Great Britain in the world final staged at the Arabella Golf Club, Western Cape, South Africa, in November.
