WARRINGTON Wolves’ head handball coach Scott Harrington has had a late call-up to the last 22 players preparing for the London Olympics in July.

It caps a remarkable first season for the 24-year-old, who had made the bold decision to move to Warrington Wolves from the Danish Handball League, which had been his home until the end of last season.

“Although I was playing in high league and a professional handball environment, I felt the time was right to focus on developing my career as a professional handball coach,” said student Scott, who originally hails from Bristol.

“My first choice was Warrington Wolves as I was impressed with their commitment to establishing the sport in schools and their ambition to establish themselves as one of the top teams in the country.

“This call-up is pretty amazing, as I had come to terms with the fact that I would not be at the Olympics as a player.

“I have a great deal of work to do and will be off to a month-long training camp in Serbia from next week.

“I’ll give it my best shot!”
