WARRINGTON Athletics Club runner Matthew Hulse has his fingers crossed some words of wisdom from idol Mo Farah can inspire him to Sainsbury’s School Games glory in May.
The 16-year-old will compete in the 1,500m steeplechase at the Olympic Stadium on May 6 and is hoping he will get the chance to learn 5,000m world champion Farah’s secrets in the build up.
“I would love to listen to what he has to say because I think you can always learn from someone like him,” said Hulse.
“I’m really excited but I’m quite apprehensive at the same time. Not only is it my first time at the School Games but it is also at the Olympic stadium.
“I’ve competed at other national events but nothing like this.”
Hulse finished 24th in the English National Championships cross country earlier this year but will be hoping to improve on that when he lines up for an event which is backed by National Lottery funding from Sport England.
The Sainsbury’s 2012 School Games is being held in the Olympic Park and other venues from May 6-9 2012 with school-aged elite athletes competing across 12 sports. Visit 2012schoolgames.com for more information.
