WARRINGTON Rowing Club returned from a successful weekend of racing at the 24th Henley Women’s Regatta in Henley-on-Thames.

Two of the club’s top junior crews competed in the event, that attracts competitors from all over the world and both negotiated their way through the tough fields to compete in the finals day on Sunday.

The women’s junior 16s squad of Harriet MacLeod, Holly McMullen, Beth Laidlaw and Annabel Rodgers defeated Tideway Scullers RC and Molesey RC on their way to face Latymer Upper School in the semi final, defeating them but losing out in a close-run final.

The junior doubles pair of Frankie Sinnott and Fae Atkinson also made their way through to the final of their event, defeating crews from St Andrews Boat Club, Scotland and Oxford City RC.

In the semi final, they came out on top in a monumental race against Monmouth School Boat Club with the lead changing hands several times before a spirited finish saw the Warrington girls progress to the final.

The final was a local grudge match, as the pair faced their training partners from neighbouring club, Runcorn RC, and lost out to the junior internatiuonals in an exciting finsh.
