WORLD Cup action concludes in Switzerland for Warrington rowers Richard Egington and Olivia Whitlam this weekend.
Former Lymm High School pupil Egington has gold and bronze medals to show for his first two outings with the new-look Team GB men’s four in Spain and Germany.
The Leander athlete and crewmates Alex Partridge, Alex Gregory and Matt Langridge go to Lucerne on the back of winning the Stewards’ Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta on Sunday.
They defeated New Zealand’s lightweight crew by three-and-a-half lengths in 7mins 5secs in their only race of the weekend, with Team GB going straight through to the showdown on the back of the American boat withdrawing from the heat.
Whitlam, of Daresbury, tackles Lucerne hoping to improve on fifth-place finishes in the women’s pair and eight in the previous World Cup round in Munich, which followed two golds from the opening event in Banyoles.
Team GB still lead the World Cup overall points standings after two events.
