Warriors keep up record run


EIGHT more records fell as Warriors of Warrington competed at the second weekend of the Liverpool and District Age Group Championships.

Aimee Harvey, aged 13, broke the championship record in the 800m freestyle and 13-year-old Brendan Spencer broke the 400m freestyle record.

In the 200m individual medley, Jordan Barlow achieved his second record of the championships., while 10-year-old Oliver Houghton and 11-year-old Aaron set records in the 200m butterfly.

Tim Almond smashed another record in the 100m breaststroke, which had been held since 1991 by ex-Warrior Andrew Lomax.

Two records were also set in the 100m backstroke by 14-year-old Rebecca Pye and 11-year-old Kathleen Dawson.

Rebecca and Kathleen’s swims were also national qualifying times, while Michael Ross gained a national qualifying time in the 200m backstroke.

Overall winners trophies went to Tim Almond for the 400m freestyle and 100m breaststroke, Sophie Long for the 400m individual medley and Rebecca Pye for the 100m backstroke.

Overall winners in the Age Group Championships were Oliver Houghton, Ewan Miller, Brendan Spencer and Amy Callaghan.
