Year's progress highlights strength of Warriors

WARRIORS of Warrington Swimming Cub finished in a fantastic third place in the regional final of the North West Premier Division National Swimming League at the weekend.

Despite being promoted to the Premier Division only two years ago, Warriors demonstrated the strength of swimming in Warrington by finishing three places higher than last year.

There were individual wins for Rebecca Pye and Sean Hathway in the 100m backstroke, Andrew McLay in the 50m breaststroke and Aisha Thornton in the 100m freestyle.

There was also a win for the men’s open individual medley team.

Every Warrington swimmer contributed to this outstanding performance, with many of them posting personal best times and swimming to national qualifying standards.

Warriors now must wait to see where they rank among the top 20 clubs in the country to see if they have gone through to the national finals, which will take part in April 2009.
