DES Drummond’s stunning form with his new club Warrington, after his 10 seasons with Leigh, was rewarded with a World Cup appearance for Great Britain in the 1985 to 1988 event.
He was on the wing as the Lions destroyed Papua New Guinea 42-0 at Central Park, Wigan, on October 24, 1987.
Drummond, the last Warrington captain to lift the Regal Trophy after a 12-2 victory against Bradford Northern at Headingley in 1991, spent six seasons at Wilderspool as he kept his top-flight career going until he was 34.

He was a fans’ favourite as he cut much larger men in two with his perfectly timed rib-crunching tackling technique and long distance tries.
Drummond notched 69 tries in 182 appearances for Warrington, adding to his 141 scores in 280 games for Leigh, before he ended his career with Workington.
