TENNIS hotshot Pippa Carr’s British National Junior Championships hopes ended at the quarter finals stage on Monday.

The Stockton Heath Tennis Club teenager and her partner Natalie Syme lost 6-3 7-5 against Jennifer Brown and Alice Keddie in the 12 and under girls’ doubles contest on the West Hants Club courts in Bournemouth, Dorset.

Carr, number one at her age in the north west after a rapid rise up the rankings over the past eight months, went out in the second qualifying round of the 12 and under girls singles in the 10-day event.

She defeated Priya Bhandari 6-4 6-4 in the first round but then fell 6-7 6-3 0-1 against Bethany Eccles.

Carr, a former pupil of Sir Thomas Boteler High School who now receives home education to allow for her five-and-a-half hours of training per day with her personal coach Craig Barnard, also teamed up with Syme in the 14 and under girls’ doubles but they were knocked out in the first round.
