OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP: Archer finishes off in style

PHIL Archer finished his first ever round at the Open Championship on a high note by saving a par on the 18th on Thursday.
Archer had played his second shot some 30 yards short of the green but received generous applause after superbly chipping to within close range and then holing out to complete a round of 75.
