Corcoran and Lewis lead the way

MARTYN Corcoran and Sarah Lewis led the way for Warrington Athletics Club’s intermediates competing in the schools' inter-county Mason Trophy match at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.

Representing Cheshire, Corcoran finished in second place in the 200m in 23secs, with Sarah Lewis – the only Warrington girl taking part – crossing the line second in the 80m hurdles in 12.5secs.

There were also second-place finishes for junior runners Sam Dykes and Jack Gleave.

Dykes registered 2mins 1.8secs in the 800m A race, with Gleave - competing as a guest – clocking 2mins 7.9sec in the B race.

James Gladman smashed his personal best time in the intermediate 100m hurdles, finishing fifth in 14.5secs.

In the 1,500m, Harry Ellis was third in 4mins 10.3secs, with Tom Jervis - representing Greater Manchester – came home fifth in 4mins 19.5secs.

Mike Roach was seventh in the high jump with a clearance of 1.65m and Adam Nicholls took fifth in the long jump with a leap of 5.91m.

In the junior age group, James Sutton was fifth place in the 100m in 12.2secs, while Luke Johnston was fifth in the 1,500m A race in 4mins 31.8secs and Matt Pontifex was third in the B race in 4mins 42.4secs.
