FORMER Warrington Wolves assistant coach Clive Griffiths is recovering from a suspected heart attack.

The 64-year-old Doncaster Knights director of rugby, a position he has held since 2012, is in hospital undergoing tests and he is expected to make a full recovery.

Griffiths, who was assistant to Brian Johnson at The Wire in the late 80s and 90s, is a former Wales rugby league head coach and Wales rugby union defence coach.

"Doncaster RFC (Doncaster Knights) can now confirm that director of rugby Clive Griffiths suffered a suspected heart attack whilst out jogging on Friday evening," says a club statement.

"Clive is currently undergoing tests in Doncaster Royal Infirmary, but is expected to make a full recovery.

"We are sure that everyone concerned with Doncaster Knights, Phoenix and the wider club will want to join us in sending our very best wishes to Clive."

The ex-Llanelli, St Helens and Salford Red Devils full-back's coaching career has also seen him have spells at North Wales Crusaders, South Wales Dragons, Newport, London Welsh and Worcester.
