WARRIORS of Warrington swimmer Charis Davidson won her first ever open water race on Saturday.

She took part in the Scottish National Open Water Championships and claimed gold in the women’s 2km race in the 13-14 years age group.

Davidson belied windy conditions and a frantic mass start at Loch Venachar to settle into a steady pace before stretching away from her rivals.

She completed the course in 31mins 26secs – a comfortable 10 seconds ahead of the second-fastest swimmer in her age group and fifth overall in the open category.

This gave Davidson her second Scottish national medal after she won silver in the 800m freestyle indoors at July’s invitational Scottish Summer Meet.
