UNLIKE many of his Warrington Wolves teammates, Bryson Goodwin has already been to Wembley.

And he was on the winning side as New Zealand broke England hearts to reach the 2013 World Cup final with a last gasp try.

But what many may not remember, and what the centre himself forgot until he joined the Wire, was that it was his tackle on Ben Westwood that secured the win.

Westwood lost the ball in the act of scoring thanks to Goodwin’s tackle in the 70th minute when England were 18-14 up and had their tails up.

Goodwin, whose side would go on to lose to Australia in the World Cup final, said: “We have had a laugh about that.

“I didn’t even realise until I got over here that it was Bennie I did that to.

“But we have had a little chuckle over it.

“That was a great day and hopefully it will be something like that again on Saturday.”
