Driffield 22 Lymm 45

HEAD coach Adam Fletcher says Saturday’s friendly at Driffield gave him “a good indication” of where his Lymm side’s preparations for the new season are at.

In a game played in three 25-minute periods, the Crouchley Lane side ran in seven tries on their trip to East Yorkshire, with Reece Forrest grabbing two of them.

Adam Bray, Matty Hand, Ali Sutherland, Scott Redfern and Rory Riddell also crossed the whitewash, while full-back Cormac Nolan was in handy form with the boot as he kicked five conversions.

Driffield only missed out on promotion to the North Premier Division – the same level as Lymm – after losing a promotion play-off against Wilmslow and Fletcher says he was pleased with what his 22-man squad produced despite several absences.

“After a tough six weeks on the training pitch, I wanted the lads to go out and enjoy themselves and they produced a really positive performance,” he said.

“We played three 25-minute sessions and moved the ball well, with some good tries.

“We now have a good indication of where we are and what we need to improve on before our next fixture.

“We thank Driffield for hosting the game and their hospitality and wish them all the best for the forthcoming season.”

Lymm now have two more pre-season friendlies – both at Crouchley Lane – before their first league game of the 2018-19 campaign at Billingham on Saturday, September 1.

The first of them comes tomorrow, Friday, when they host Welsh side Treorchy, kick off 7pm, before first and second-team games against Huddersfield on August 25.

Lymm: Gav Woods, Rob Makin, Matty Hand, Aaron Rasheed, Zak Lythgoe, Adam Bray, Matty Connelly, Sam Mullarkey, Andy Davies, Tom Shard, Luke Richards, Scott Redfern, Joe Denman, Ali Sutherland, Cormac Nolan, Nick Ashton, Jordan Widdrington, James Pitcher, Rory Riddell, Reece Forest, Rhys Jones, Dan Horton.
