WARRINGTON Athletics Club runners won medals in the Northern Masters 5000m Championships.

Dave Gill and Steve Watmough collected gold, while Mervyn Ward bagged bronze in Ashton-under-Lyne.

In the race for women and over 60s men, Gill finished second overall in 19mins 14.5secs to seal the over 60s gold. Ward was fifth in 20mins 42.1secs, securing over 60s bronze.

Watmough’s 17mins 05.5secs saw him finish third overall in the race for 35 to 59-year-old men, earning him gold in the over 55s section.

Under 17s Jordan Jones (800m, 2mins 03.01secs) and Joe Buckley (1500m, 4mins 02.53secs) recorded personal best times in last week’s Trafford Grand Prix. Jones finished fourth in his race, Buckley ninth.

Chris Fance was seventh in his 800m race in 2mins 02.53secs, while Isaaq Ataullah was seventh in his 1500m event in 4mins 18.47secs.
