The forward, who turns 30 next week, moves to The Halliwell Jones Stadium on a deal until the end of the season.

Thompson – a New Zealand native who is primarily a second rower but can also play loose forward and centre – has made 24 Championship appearances for the Centurions since signing from New Zealand Warriors ahead of this season.

He has also played for Wests Tigers and Gold Coast Titans during his first-grade career.

Wire head coach Steve Price says Thompson's versatility will mean he has a big role to play for the rest of 2018.

"I’ve followed Bodene’s career closely," he said.

"He is a player who comes with a high work rate and people I trust in the game speak very highly of his professionalism.

"I see him playing a big part in our team over the back end of the season as he has the ability to play in the middle and also on the edge.

"We look forward to welcoming Bodene into the squad.”

Thompson will wear the number 30 shirt for The Wire.
