SWIMMERS from the Warriors of Warrington club were the stand-outs of a recent meet in Sheffield.

More than 60 club members competed at the Rotherham Metro Summer Meet and they received the award for the best visiting club.

Rokia Farag, 9, won the ‘top girl’ award having won six golds, six silvers and a bronze at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge pool.

Ten-year-old Joe Ashley was also a big winner as four golds, eight silvers and two bronzes bagged him the ‘top boy’ prize

Plenty of the club’s other members took first place in their age groups, including Adam Albera, Rhys Croasdale, George Daintith, Tom Hilton, Jack Moss, Ben Rix and Ronnie Weall.

Millie Duncan, Gabriella Hunt, Abby Smeltzer, Isabella Thornton, Ava Vincent and Sophie Weston made up the list of age-group winners.

Ellie Basiursky, Owen Burgess, Payton Chesters, Natasha Gayter, Alex Rix and Ben Weall were among the Warriors swimmers to finish second in their age group, while Hannah Laughton, Jamie Lawler, Logan Mulhall-Reid and Matthew Warburton all finished third.

Many swimmers achieved personal best times, while several also achieved their first qualifying times for the Cheshire Club Championships.
