A FOOTBALLER from Warrington looks likely to head into the Premier League as one of Bournemouth's most expensive signings.

Cherries are set to splash out an eight-figure fee on Sheffield United attacker David Brooks, who has become one of the Championship's hottest properties since being released by Manchester City.

It is understood Bournemouth have agreed to pay £10million to secure the Welsh international, with add-ons potentially taking the deal to around £11.5m.

Confirmation of the move would make Warrington-born Brooks Eddie Howe's first summer signing for the coastal club.

Tottenham and Liverpool were also rumoured to be interested in the 20-year-old, who has made 37 appearances for the South Yorkshire club in all competitions, scoring three goals and providing eight assists.

Brooks had joined Manchester City’s academy at the age of seven, and spent 10 years learning the basics only to be let go at 17-years-old.

But he revelled with the Blades' Academy and only eight months ago he signed a new contract which had been due to keep him at Bramall Lane until 2021.

He scored for England during the final of last year's Toulon Tournament, in which he was named player of the series, before winning three senior caps for Wales, who he qualified for through his mother.
