LEE Smith has resigned from his role as head coach of Latchford Albion.

The club confirmed Smith has left his role at Victoria Park with immediate effect, bringing an end to a spell at the club which started in 2011.

He leaves with Albion handily placed as they sit third in North West Men’s League Division One.

“Lee has truly become part of the Albion family it is with sadness that his resignation was accepted,” a club statement read.

“He leaves with the club in a much stronger position than when he first became involved within the coaching set up, with the club now running two competitive sides, and the first team competing for honours in the NWML Division One.

“The club wishes to place on record their thanks to Lee, who has worked tirelessly since joining the club back in 2011

“Moving forward the opportunity now arises for a new challenge for the club.”

First-team captain Danny Brown will take charge of training in the interim alongside chairman Mike Byron.

The club are inviting applications for the head coach’s position. For further information, please email latchfordalbionrlfc@gmail.com or contact the club through their Facebook and Twitter pages.
