SEAN Neary bemoaned a “pretty poor” weekend at Snetterton after he lost his championship lead in the Ducati Trioptions Cup series.

The Lymm rider went into the fourth round of the championship top of the standings but is now down in second after retiring from the weekend’s second race due to technical issues.

That came after a fourth-place finish in a shortened race one, a disappointment for Neary after he qualified in pole position.

However, the Zoek Racing rider is confident he can bounce back when the series heads to Brands Hatch on July 20.

“As race weekends go it was pretty poor,” he said.

The race didn’t go our way on Saturday as it was cut short, which didn’t do us any favours for a podium but we didn’t have the pace to win.

“A technical issue with the bike meant we didn’t finish race two.

“It is not ideal but on the positive side, it can always be worse.

“We will work hard and come back strong for Brands Hatch.”

Rob Guiver won both races to take over from Neary at the top of the overall standings. He leads by 28 points.
