FORMER Warrington Wolves forward Paul Wood has come out of retirement to sign for Whitehaven - and will play for the club for free.
The 36-year-old has not played in the top three divisions since leaving Featherstone at the end of 2015, but is now available for the League One side.
A successful 15-year career with The Wire saw Wood make 237 appearances and be part of the team that won two Challenge Cups, playing in the 2010 and 2012 finals.
Wood also played in the 2012 Grand Final defeat to Leeds Rhinos, famously rupturing his right testicle one minute into the second half.
