Rylands Sharks 36 Wigan Spring View A 30

RYLANDS edged a to-and-fro encounter at Gorsey Lane to continue their bid for promotion from North West Men’s League Division Five.

After falling behind to Josh Kenharding’s try, the Sharks crossed twice in as many minutes through Jordan Paget and Nick Braide, with Jack Lewis converting both scores.

Connor Evans’ converted effort put the visitors back within two points at the break, and a penalty after the restart levelled the scores.

Once again, Rylands ran in two tries in quick succession thanks to Adam Thompson and Aaron Holliday, but Spring View held onto their coattails.

Phil Risley and Kenharding exchanged tries to ensure the scores were level with 10 minutes to go, but tries from Lewis and Danny Banner helped to put Rylands out of sight.

Liam Griffith scored for Spring View to set up a grandstand finish, but the Sharks held on for a vital victory.

Rylands travel to Thatto Heath Crusaders B on Saturday, kick off 2.30pm.
