Why should I watch?

This match will undoubtedly play a part in the make-up of the top four when Super League splits in a few weeks.

A Wire victory will give them even more of a cushion inside those coveted places, but defeat will leave them looking over their shoulder.

Victory for Castleford would, after all, move then level on points with their hosts with a game in hand.

As breath-taking as Warrington were against Wigan on Saturday, the challenge now is replicating that consistently.

They have been ticking along nicely and the Challenge Cup win was a big step forward, but The Wire must not let tonight’s game develop an “after the Lord Mayor’s Show” feel.

What they’ve said:

"Since the Wigan game there has been a lot of focus on recovery and mentally getting in a really strong mindset for Friday night.

"It's going to be a really hard game because Castleford are right on our heels at the moment.

“Sticking to our systems and our structures is our main focus."

Steve Price, Warrington Wolves head coach

“They are defending with an edge to them at the moment and they have good players across the park.

“Some of the players that probably didn’t have the best of years in 2017, they’re back to playing well.

“When they get into a bit of a groove these guys at Warrington can have a big say in Super League.”

Numbers game:

Kevin Brown is approaching a milestone and may end up reaching it tonight.

If he manages to score a hat-trick tonight, it will take him to 150 career tries.

The half-back has crossed 13 times for The Wire to go with his 51 tries for Widnes, another 51 for Huddersfield, 31 for Wigan and one for England.

Warrington team news:

Steve Price is expected to name an unchanged Wire side for tonight’s game, barring any late withdrawals.

The 19-man squad is unchanged, with Dom Crosby and Toby King left out despite being declared fit to play after ankle and hamstring injuries respectively.

Long-term absentees Ben Currie (knee) and Jack Johnson (broken leg) are the only players unavailable to Price.

Squad: Sitaleki Akauola, Ryan Atkins, Kevin Brown, Mitch Brown, Josh Charnley, Daryl Clark, Mike Cooper, Bryson Goodwin, Chris Hill, Jack Hughes, George King, Tom Lineham, Harvey Livett, Ben Murdoch-Masila, Declan Patton, Joe Philbin, Stefan Ratchford, Tyrone Roberts, Ben Westwood.

Castleford team news:

Daryl Powell could give debuts to two players – full-back Quentin Laulu-Togaga’e and forward Mitch Clark – after both were named in his 19-man squad.

The Tigers can also welcome back Greg Minikin, but are without the likes of Luke Gale, Liam Watts, Junior Moors and Jamie Ellis through injury.

Squad: Mitch Clark, Matt Cook, Greg Eden, Alex Foster, Kieran Gill, Jy Hitchcox, Oliver Holmes, Quentin Laulu-Togaga’e, Will Maher, Nathan Massey, Mike McMeeken, Paul McShane, Grant Millington, Adam Milner, Greg Minikin, Jesse Sene-Lefao, Michael Shenton, Jake Trueman, Joe Wardle.

One to watch:

Adam Milner

Having competed with Paul McShane for the hooking role initially, Milner has now made the Castleford loose forward position his own.

He may be small in stature, but the 26-year-old does not let that hinder him and he is widely known as one of the league’s best defensive players.

Talk of a move to the NRL has intensified of late, but Milner will first aim to help his hometown club achieve as much as they can.
