DECLAN Patton has put an end to speculation about his future by signing a new deal with Warrington Wolves.

The 23-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a new contract that will keep him at the club until November 2020.

Patton becomes the fourth Wire player to commit their future to the club this year, following Harvey Livett, Toby King and Mike Cooper.

Warrington-born half-back Patton was off-contract at the end of 2018 and his recent impressive performances as an interchange hooker had led to rumours of other clubs making a move for his services.

However, Wire head coach Steve Price said he was delighted the former Cardinal Newman High School pupil had renewed his commitment to his hometown club.

“He had a lot interest from other clubs and I know he didn’t want to leave the club he loves,” he said.

“I’ve been really pleased with Declan’s attitude and contribution to the team. He’s playing a really important part.

“I understand he’d like more game time, but winning teams are all about team first and that’s what breeds success.

“He is playing a solid part in and around our team at the moment.

“Being a local junior and there still being a lot of improvement in Declan for many years to come he’s a player we did not want to lose.”
