MEG Corker and Ashley Nemits kept up their impressive form for Warrington Athletics Club at Saturday’s Youth Development League match.

Corker was victorious in the girls under 15s 75m hurdles – equalling her UK-leading time of 11.4secs in the process – while she also won the B 100m race in 12.9secs and finished third in the A long jump after a leap of 4.39m.

In the same age group, Nemits clocked 26.1secs to claim victory in the A 200m and finished second in the A 100m in 12.4secs.

For the boys, Gus Schofield performed excellently and set personal bests in all three of his events.

He finished second in both the high jump and discus – clearing 1.53m and throwing 18.83m – before coming home fourth in the 100m, stopping the clock at 13.1secs.

In the under 13s age group, there was a high jump double for the boys as Dominiks Norviss (1.40m) and Corey Beechall (1.30m) won the A and B events respectively.

Erik Marshall also picked up a win, clocking 2mins 26.2secs to claim top prize in the 800m.

Georgia Smethurst was the only winer for the girls as she leapt 3.51m to win the B long jump.

The weekend started with Friday’s Christleton 5km road race, with five Warrington Athletics Club members taking part.

Nick Jones was the first to finish and his time of 15mins 26secs was his fastest 5km time since 2005.

This was enough to win the over 40s age group, finish ninth overall and push him up to sixth in the over 40s UK rankings.

Steve Watmough took top prize in the over 55 age group as he finished 64th in 16mins 47secs, while new recruit Paul Bagan was 84th in 17mins 3secs.

Andy Green, who is recovering from a hamstring problem, was next home in 110th place by clocking 17mins 39secs, while Dave Gill’s time of 18mins 39secs saw him win the over 60s category and finish 173rd overall.

On Sunday, two club members took part in the 10km Great Manchester Run in sweltering conditions.

Jack Green was 47th in 35mins 18secs, while Louise Blizzard was second in the mass start over 40s age group by clocking 43mins 37secs – a time that was only beaten by three over 40s runners in the elite start.

Louise’s son Alfie took part in the 1,500m Mini run, completing it in 7mins 10secs.
