TYRONE Roberts says he is looking forward to seeing how playing at St James’ Park compares to his experiences of Australia’s bigger stadiums.

The 26-year-old half-back is one of several members of the Wire squad who will play at Magic Weekend for the first time when they take on Wigan Warriors in Newcastle on Saturday.

Having experienced several of the bigger arenas in the NRL with Newcastle Knights and Gold Coast Titans, Roberts says running out in front of a large crowd is a great thrill.

“It’s just a great stadium. The more you walk in and look around it looks even bigger and at the weekend it’s going to be packed,” he said.

“Probably Suncorp (in Brisbane) compares to it or the big stadiums in Sydney, but they don’t really get packed out unless it’s Origin.

“I’ve played at Suncorp and in some semi-finals back home and it’s a case of mentally taking it all in when there’s a big crowd.

“When you run out it’s great and I’m looking forward to it.”

The Wire sit third in Super League – two points and one place behind Saturday’s opponents – having won 10 games in a row in all competitions.

Roberts says the game against Shaun Wane’s side is a chance for Warrington to show how good they really are.

“We’re still growing. Our discipline’s been great and our attack’s improving every week,” he said.

“It’s going to be a benchmark at the weekend as to how good we’re really going to be.

“It’s going to be tough. They’re a big, physical side and we’ve got to bring our A game.”
